Wampum, the Gateway to Lawrence & Beaver County is conveniently located 45 minutes north of downtown Pittsburgh and 35 Minutes west of Youngstown, Ohio.   There are Exits From  Rt 76 & RT 376 (old Rt 60) Pa Turnpikes &  I-80.

Wampum is a small, friendly town that is rich in sports history.    BASKETBALL  put Wampum on the map.  Butler Hennon, coach of the Wampum basketball team had skills and techniques that took Wampum players to win the Pa State Championship in 1950's over three times.  The WAMPUM GYM still stands and is in use almost every day by area residence.  The Gym has been preserved and offers a trophy case full of State Championship Trophy's still on display today.  It is now called the Butler Hennon Recreation Center.  Ron Galbreath, one of the starting players has coached at West Minister College and  GENEVA COLLEGE.   Rich Allen, a local resident, made it to the big leagues and played baseball for the Philadelphia Philly's team.  Stephen Johns, a local teen, played hockey on the U.S. Olympic team this past year and will play for the Chicago Black Hawks once he completes college.    In the 70's the surrounding area was booming in the Steel Mill Industry and is now  part of the Marcellus & Utica Shale boom.       Increased small business development in our area offers great value for the local residence as well as the traveler.  Nearby recreational facilities include Mines and Meadows RV Park and Pitts International Race Complex.  Day Dream Tours offers packaged motor coach departure from our area to major cities.  Boyer's Country Inn offers overnight accommodations.

Pittsburgh International Raceway Complex,reviously Beaverun is less than  4 miles from Boyer's Country Inn.  Stonecrest Golf Course, Fox Run Golf Course, and The Olde Stone Wall Golf Course (One of the top 10 Courses in the U.S.A.)  , are all within 15 minutes.   Ellwood City, Beaver Falls, Volant, New Wilmington, and New Castle, are located within 20 minutes of us. You may want to visit Amish Country, McConnel's Mill State Park, Morainne State Park, Geneva College, and New Wilmington College.  One of our newest recreational facilities, Pittsburgh International Race Complex,  attracts visitors from around the world.  This is a world class facility with, driver training, kart, motorcycle and auto racing.  

BOYER'S COUNTRYSIDE INN, offers room accommodations in a historic farm house, built in the late 1800's.  It has been restored to it's original wooden plank floors and highlights the beauty of the tall windows and plaster molding original to the house.  Other collectables and antique beds add to the comfort of your stay.  A fireplace still stands on the property today from a log cabin that burnt in 1943.   17 acres of this original plot of over 250 acres of land running along Rt 18 remains as a country setting for this charming country inn.   MASSAGE PACKAGES and TEA PARTIES are a big hit at affordable prices.

GATEWAY COMMERCE CENTER.   The limestone mines, were once mined by Medusa Cement Co and in more recent years have been turned into underground storage used by hospitals, government agencies,  RV and Auto storage.  In the early 90's a company called Heart of the Mountain Produce,  experimented with growing produce with out sunlight underground and conducted studies for NASA in the mines.   The Worlds largest telescope was brought in from Lake Erie via I-79. It was polished in the mines before transporting the lens to Hawaii.  The temperature remains constant year round  and has proven to become a useful storage facility of the future.    Wampum is also known  for growing MUSHROOMS in the mines for retail sales in grocery stores.         .

Ellwood City, once a resort community to Pittsburgh  in the early 1900's  now offers a world class golf facility,The Old Stone Wall Golf Course and Shakespears Restaurant.     Many of our guest have enjoyed dinner, entertainment, and a visit to this beautiful complex that resembles a castle.  The property is lined with massive stone boulders quarried from the Wampum area. Growing up in the area we rode our horses through the wooded area that is now the golf course.   Ellwood also has a charming downtown with antique and specialty shops and Airway Luggage Outlet.  Many of the steel mills that made Ellwood what it is today have closed and been replace with new industry.  Ellwood city has a historical museum that brings the history to life.  There are many area restaurants that have good food and reasonable prices.  Ellwood is also home to a Greek Orthodox Monastery, founded by a princess of Romania.  The Ellwood City Arts Festival is a free event held over the 4th of July weekend in Ewing Park.  Entertainment, ethnic foods, craft exhibits, and fireworks makes this a worth while event!  We are members of the Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce.  As a child hood resident of Ellwood City, I have always had the desire to share some of it's secrets and stories with visitors that come through our area.   Wampum, just 9 miles from Ellwood, and is the oldest town in Lawrence County. Grove City Prime Outlet 23 minutes from our door...(I timed it and shopped!)  Great bargains! Name brand stores and a nice drive.  Volant and New Wilmington, both Amish communities, are en route to the outlets. Along with the Amish Countryside there are country shops and cafe's along the way.  

Lawrence County Tourism     People who care!  We love our community and want to show you the best hidden secrets around.  I served on the Tourism board for two years with many people who care.  We realize how important tourism is and want you to visit our area, therefore, we will roll out the red carpet and go the extra mile to show you many reasons to come back.    Lawrence Counties countryside is 45 minutes north of Pittsburgh.  New Castle is the heart of Lawrence County and the fireworks capitol of the world.

Moraine State Park, located off of I-79 and 422, approximately 20 minutes away.  You will find bicycle trails and and rentals, boat rentals, and swimming along with sandy beaches.  Lake Arthur is a man made lake built in the late 60's early 70's.  This is where we took our Sunday drives as a family.  Each week we would check the progress of the roadways and land being flooded to form the Lake that it is today.   

McConnell's Mill State Park - Located off of Rt 422 about 25 minutes from our inn.  They have a beautiful Old Restored Mill and Covered Bridge.  The drive is nice with the fall colors and it is a great place to hike and the rock formation is something to see. 

The Olde Stone Wall Golf Course & Shakespeare's Restaurant - Ellwood Area,  10 miles -  This Golf Course is one of the top in the country.  The restaurant is open to the public with a lot of history is the newly built castle. 

Riverfront Antiques, Chippewa, Pa  Approximately 10-15 minutes from our Inn you will find some of the best Antique shopping. 

Rodgers Flea Market, Rodgers, Ohio.  Open every Friday, all day.  approximately 35 minutes from Wampum area. Everything from old to new items.  You can shop early in the morning to beat the crowds or close the place down at midnight for the ultimate bargains.  Some enclosed buildings and many outdoor displays under lights.  330-227-3233

The SCOTTISH RITE CATHEDRAL 724-654-6683 Originally built as a meeting place for Masonic groups, and once the largest facility between N.Y. and Chicago.  Six stone column rise 32 feet in front of the building and weigh 32,000 pounds each.  The stage is 82 ft wide and the auditorium seats 2,834 people. There is not a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are wonderful.  They can serve 1,800 people in the dining hall.   Weddings and special events are held here.  Concerts, regional ballet and the Pittsburgh Symphony performs here.  Check out there web site for current events and shows.

SLOVENIAN HERITAGE MUSEUM - (SNPJ CAMP) - located in nearby Enon Valley you will find Colorful costumes and a history of the Slovenian culture highlighted in this on-of-a-kind museum.   Large hall available for Weddings and event.

Darlington Polo Fields.  10-15 minutes away.  Almost every Friday in the summer horses and their riders come from all over for an evening of competition.
